The Pudding Club is a piloting, non-profit organisation that provides pregnant parents low-cost postnatal education in the antenatal stages, with a focus on teaching proven preventative measures for the behaviours of colic, reflux, lactose and dairy overload, while teaching practical parenting skills.
While we have a lighter side that involves a passion for puddings, which all parents receive each night at our course, we are also seriously passionate about preventative intervention and providing a service based on the Ministry of Health policy of 'Better, Sooner, More Convenient Health Care in the Community.' We actively seek to work with community health professionals and hospital based-clinicians to deliver education that keeps our communities healthier. We deliver this by having postnatal health professionals and organisations speak at our courses in hope that we build a safety net of support and a 'postnatal community village' for parents, while empowering confident parenting, stable environments and positive mental and physical health outcomes for the whole family.
The Pudding Club is in the early stages of development, currently piloting classes in Rangiora, North Canterbury, New Zealand and will be launching classes in Christchurch in February 2018. Additionally, our aim and work at present is to make this course available via webinar by 2019, so all expectant parents and newborns in New Zealand can benefit from preventative postnatal education.
